Abstract

This study examined the determination of theoretical buckling load of hybrid composite laminates with different hole diameters using the Taguchi-based fuzzy optimization method. In the Taguchi-based fuzzy method, the buckling parameters in the theoretical approach were used as input data, and the critical buckling load value was considered the output. Multiple Performance Characteristics Index (MPCI) was utilized for determining optimization results. Moreover, theoretical results verified by experimental and numerical approaches. In the experimental approach, the hybrid composite laminates (HCGFRE) manufactured by sequential sequencing of plain woven glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) and plain woven carbon fiber reinforced laminates (CFRE). Tests were carried out at a constant loading rate of 1 mm/min at room temperature. In numerical analysis, eigenvalue buckling was performed using Ansys finite element program. Composite laminates were formed utilizing Composite PrepPost (ACP) sub-module. Eventually, it was observed that using the Taguchi-based fuzzy method to determine the critical buckling load of hybrid composite laminates is consistent with both experimental and numerical approaches in terms of results
