Based on Christian Norberg-Schulz's concept of Genius Loci and Henri Lefebvre's Production of Space theory, this course aims to analyse how the social, cultural, economic, political and physical elements of cities shape spatial experience. The course aims to evaluate the ongoing production processes of space in different cities from different geographies through urban memory, current urban transformation dynamics and debates. Throughout the course, each week a different city will be analysed and the spatial dynamics of that city will be analysed.
