Özet:

Bangladesh gained its independence in 1971 after a 9 months war led by the Awami League. India used this war as an opportunity to dismantle Pakistan for its own security and provided support to the Awami League. In this period, China supported Pakistan and played roles against Awami League. The killing of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of the country with military coups in 1975 and the removal of the Awami League from the power has been a major disappointment for India; on the other hand, the Chinese government has established official relations with Bangladesh. When the Awami League came to power again in 2009, China and India began to develop extensive cooperative relations with Awami League. In this study, the relations of Bangladesh Awami League with China and India between 2009-2018 were investigated within the framework of the critical geopolitical concept. This work also analysed the foreign policy discourses of Awami League in 2009-2008 period in the equation of China and India and suggested future foreign policy recommendations for Bangladesh. The data obtained from primary and secondary sources have concluded by content analysis method. It has been seen that geographically Bangladesh is in a very weak position and geo-strategically it is a very important country to India, China and the global powers. In terms of Awami League's relations with China and India between 2009-2018, it has been seen that China supports Awami League and established extensive relations with Bangladesh in economic, infrastructure and military fields. It has been observed that India provides political support to the Awami League; the relations with India have been improved in the field of energy and infrastructure, the land border problem has been solved, but transit from the territory of Bangladesh has been granted for inter-regional transport and trade of India before the settlement of the waters of the common rivers and other issues. It has been observed that with the success of the Awami League in the equation of China and India; India and China also established a strong influence on Bangladesh.
