Associations as non-governmental organizations have emerged as a result of modern society. Purposes such as solidarity, cooperation, unity, organization and information can be defined as common features of associations. The increase in the number of associations paralleled the increase in urbanization. It is seen that association formation has gained momentum in Turkey, especially in the last twenty years. This acceleration is also seen in the maritime sector. Purpose of the study; To examine the roles of some associations of which individuals, institutions and organizations operating in the maritime sector are members, in the development of maritime policies. In the study, the policies developed by some associations operating in the maritime sector in maritime-related activities will be discussed with the descriptive research method. In the study, the features that distinguish associations in the maritime sector from other associations will be examined. The cause-effect relationship of the emergence of relevant associations will be evaluated. Another subject of the study will be the function of associations, which are non-profit, non-governmental organizations, in the maritime sector.
