Özet

The aim of this study is to investigate the premixed methane-air gas combustion in two stage porous media both experimentally and numerically. The cylindrical 10 kW two stage porous burner was designed by utilizing the experimental and numerical findings. In computational study, the commercial software FLUENT was employed to solve three-dimensional steady mathematical model of the combustion. Turbulent flow field inside the combustion zone was examined by implementing the k-e turbulence model. For experimental study, 10kW porous burner was designed and constructed. Porous media made of SiC foam consists of low porosity preheat zone and high porosity combustion zone inside the burner. The main objectives of the experiment was to observe propagation of the flame along the length of the burner, to measure the combustion temperature of methane-air gas mixture and to hold the flame with adjusted porous media in desired region of the porous media. The temperature measurements were performed by thermocouples along the burner to observe flame propagation and quenching. Measurements of pollutant emissions were also performed. It has been found that the measured temperature and determined combustion location by experiment agree perfectly with the results of numerical study.
