Passive dampers are devices that are frequently used in structural
control with their features. One of the most effective methods in reducing the
response of the structure to seismic excitations is to adjust the mass amount
of the dampers. In this study, the performance of a passive tuned liquid damper
(TLD) device placed on a single-story structure under seismic excitations at
different structure mass ratios was analyzed. For this purpose, the tuned
liquid damper device parameters are optimized with the Jaya algorithm to minimize
the movement of the structure under seismic excitations for various mass ratios
ranging from 1% to 40%. When the results are examined, it has been determined
that increasing the structure mass ratio can reduce the displacement and total
acceleration up to 60%.
