Ecovillage - Symbiotic Life: The Case of Sarısu

The search for alternative life models in harmony with nature against the destructiveness of rapid urbanization and industrialization has led to the concept of eco-village. An ecological village is a human-scale community where human actions are sustained by creating a healthy environment without harming nature. In fact, they are living spaces where the village life, which we have forgotten or underestimated as the flow from nature and the countryside to the cities has begun, is created in a similar, perhaps slightly more organized way. Therefore, the main objective of this project is the sustainable coexistence of human actions and nature. For this reason, “symbiosis” was included as a sub-concept within the eco-village concept and the organization of this targeted coexistence was made. The concept of symbiosis is a biological term meaning “living together”. Symbiotic relationships represent types of relationships that are beneficial for both parties or neutral for one party and beneficial for the other. In the project, the concept of symbiosis was taken as a basis for the spatial organization of the eco-village to be created, and symbiotic rules and relationships were accepted as a guide in the organization of every spatial need that will arise in the space - human - nature triangle.
