ABSTRACT
This
study explores the impact of remote work on job satisfaction and work-life
balance among female employees, particularly in the context of their
personality traits. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of
remote work, compelling organizations to adapt to new work environments and
practices. While remote work offers flexibility and autonomy, which can enhance
job satisfaction, its effects are nuanced and influenced by individual
differences. Research indicates that remote work can improve job satisfaction
by providing greater schedule flexibility and meeting psychological needs, such
as autonomy and competence. However, the relationship between remote work and
job satisfaction is mixed, with some studies suggesting a curvilinear
relationship where satisfaction increases with remote work only up to a certain
point. Personality traits also play a crucial role; those high in
conscientiousness and openness may experience greater job satisfaction and
work-life balance in remote settings, while individuals high in extraversion or
agreeableness may face challenges related to isolation and lack of social
interaction. In patriarchal contexts, such as the Arab world, women encounter
unique barriers that can affect their work experiences. This study emphasizes
the importance of recognizing these challenges and tailoring remote work
practices to support female employees effectively. By understanding the
interplay between remote work, personality traits, and the specific challenges
faced by women, organizations can develop strategies to enhance job
satisfaction and work-life balance, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and
productive work environment. Continued research in this area is vital to ensure
that remote work policies are equitable and responsive to the diverse needs of
employees.
