Sustainability of agricultural
production has become an essential condition to ensure within economic systems.
In this context, it is an undeniable fact that determining the factors
affecting agricultural production will contribute to sustainability. In line
with the stated importance, the relationship between wheat production and
various factors assumed to affect wheat production, which is an important
component of agricultural production, represents the basic research scope of
this study. In the analysis conducted for the period 1994-2021 for the Turkish
economy, unit root test, ARDL Bounds test and Error Correction Model were used.
According to the findings, wheat prices are an important determinant of wheat
production and 1% change in prices increases wheat production by 1.03%. 1%
increase in agricultural production land and carbon emissions provides an
output increase as 0.87% and 0.15% respectively. In this context, prices have a
critical effect on the sustainability of agricultural production. Therefore, in
cases where market supply-demand conditions do not provide a profit that will
protect the producers in the market, interventionist economic policies are
primarily recommended.
