Storage rack systems are load-bearing systems used for storing heavy loads and pallets and manufactured from cold-formed thin-walled steel profiles. Earthquake effects make performance analysis and safe design critical in these limited-ductility systems. This study examines the effect of different seismic demand levels on the capacities of upright profiles in a representative rack module. The preliminary model prepared in AutoCAD was transferred to SAP2000, and the system behavior was evaluated through linear static, modal, and modal response spectrum analyses. The critical internal forces in the upright profiles were transferred to CFS software, and section strength and buckling checks were performed according to AISI S100-16/S1-18. TBDY 2018 was used for earthquake parameters, while ANSI MH16.1, FEMA 460, BS EN 16681, and BS EN 15512 were adopted for seismic evaluation and general design of rack systems. The results show that although concentrically braced members limit lateral displacements, axial forces and capacity utilization ratios in the upright profiles increase significantly as the earthquake hazard level increases, and the existing section may become insufficient especially in high-seismicity regions.
