Özet

An optimization method using the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA), a metaheuristic algorithm inspired by the pollination process of flowers, was proposed. The method is applied to find the optimum design variables of a passive control system called seismic isolators. These devices are designed considering the seismicity of the region where they are located, because far-fault or near-fault earthquakes may have different effects on the optimum isolator design. The performance of the optimum isolator properties obtained by considering far-fault earthquakes under near-fault earthquakes is compared with the control performance of isolators designed for near-fault earthquakes. If the near-fault effects were not considered in the optimization, the system could fail due to displacement that is higher than the capacity. The proposed method is effective to find region-specific optimum results.
