Özet

The purpose of this study is to reveal that graffiti, which is a sub-branch of graphic art that includes analogies from elements such as illustration, typography, composition, slogan, poster and manifests itself on the streets and walls rather than being a printed medium, has an artistic contribution to the appearance of Kadıköy district as a positive perspective but and that it creates a negative visual contrast with the historical typographic remains at the building entrances in Kadıköy district, in the light of data and examples. The visual impact of graffiti on the district was carried out using a qualitative research method supported by source and literature reviews, based on observation, with a sample created by limiting the entrances of the buildings in Kadıköy district. It has been observed that graffiti works have become more intense in the streets of Kadıköy, especially in the proximity of the dock area. In this study; it has been revealed that graffiti art is performed in an artistic dimension by gaining activity within the scope of graffiti festivals on Kadıköy building walls, but it creates negative effects in terms of form and style on the typographic structure adorned with historical font choices in building names at building entrances and creates a disturbing visual communication character on the walls with irregular forms by reflecting in styles that create an unresolved contrast, incompatibility, scribbling and confusion factors.
