Özet
The surface structure of the material and the mechanical properties affecting the life of the workpiece can be changed with the finishing processes, which are the last stage of manufacturing. Surface machining processes can have positive effects on surface roughness, surface integrity, microstructure and mechanical properties. Roller burnishing, which is a sub-application of plastic forming, is based on rolling in terms of application methods and it is known that roller burnishing application is also very important in this field. In this study, traditional and ultrasonic-assisted roller burnishing of Al6082 alloy were compared under dry, cold air and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) conditions to investigate the surface roughness, energy consumption and burnishing force. According to the experimental results, burnishing force increased by applying cold air and a decrease in burnishing force was observed under the MQL condition in the ultrasonic method. The lowest surface roughness was achieved also by applying MQL and ultrasonic methods together. It was seen that the efficiency of the traditional roller burnishing process can be increased with the use of coolant/lubricant and ultrasonic vibration assistance.
