Abstract

This study aims to explore and develop adaptive urban service frameworks that leverage smart technologies to promote sustainable urban development, enhance resource efficiency, and ensure resilience and inclusivity in response to the  challenges of rapid urbanisation. The objectives of the study include: (i) To elicit adaptive urban service models, integrating smart technologies that can enable resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and high quality of life in rapidly urbanising cities in Nigeria; (ii) To study the role of adaptive urban services to foster resilience and inclusiveness in Nigeria Smart City as a result of population growth, infrastructure demands, and challenges posed by environmental change. Survey analysis was used to assess satisfaction, inclusivity, and efficiency of adaptive urban services. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Version 22, conducted descriptive, inferential, and regression analysis. The result of the regression model assessing the adaptive urban services on sustainability outcomes demonstrated a strong overall fit (R-value=0.987), indicating a highly positive correlation between adaptive urban services and sustainability outcomes. In addition, the regression model for adaptive urban services fosters resilience and inclusivity within a smart urban environment and reveals a strong correlation coefficient (R-value=0.865), indicating a robust relationship between the predictor variables and the outcome. Findings provide lessons for the potential of adaptive services for sustainable urban development while ensuring inclusiveness to ensure equitable benefits. These findings underscore the need for policies addressing digital inclusivity to ensure equitable access for all residents.
