The Evolution of Organizational Behavior From Theory to AI Integration
Yasin Tosun, Aslı Kaya
This chapter explores the evolution of organizational behavior (OB), tracing its roots from classical management theories to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Traditional frameworks like Taylor's scientific management and Fayol's administrative theory provided foundational principles for efficiency and structure. Over time, these approaches were enriched by humanistic theories emphasizing motivation, leadership, and interpersonal dynamics. The rapid advancement of technology, particularly AI, has revolutionized OB by introducing tools for decision-making, performance management, and employee engagement. However, AI adoption also raises ethical concerns, such as bias and privacy, highlighting the need for a balanced approach. By examining OB's historical trajectory and the challenges and opportunities presented by AI, this chapter envisions a future where technological innovation and human-centric values coexist to foster dynamic and sustainable organizations.
