Due to the fact that being majority of existing housing stock 1 to 3 storey, production of low rise residentials has still significiant rate in Turkish construction industry. Having been evaluated existing housing stock, quantitative and the qualitative housing projection through near future, demand is continuing for low-rise residentials and cold formed steel framing seems as an alternative to meet the trend of industry-specific. Cold form steel framing system comes into prominence when industrialized systems, which can be used in the field of low-rise residentials in Turkey as prefabricated reninforced concrete stick system, timber frame platform system and cold formed steel frame platform system, are compared in terms of design, production and installation. Cold formed steel framing system had started to be used after 1999 İzmit earthquake with getting know-how from North America. Ten years passing on earthquake, number of firms, serving in variety levels at the phase of design, production and installation, increased. Producer’ s of galvanized profiles for cold form steel framing produce similar components as quality and dimensions in Turkey with using North American’ s codes and specifications during production phase which is the difficult phase as organizational among the phases of design, production and installation. Having been cold formed steel framing industry’ s potential of open building in the field of low-rise residential in Turkey by availability of components in the market, studies are required through consisting of constructional component market. Cold formed steel framing system can be designed as the concept of open building with limited defined component by using a common convention shown on a system catalog.
