Abstract

This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of theses on successful aging (SA) in order to examine the development process of research in this field, as well as scientific and methodological trends. Successful aging is a multifaceted concept that encompasses individuals' experiences of aging in a physically, mentally, and socially healthy, meaningful, and fulfilling manner. Given the global increase in the elderly population, successful aging has emerged as an increasingly significant area of research and academic focus.

In this study, theses related to successful aging, collected from various academic databases (specifically from the YÖK Thesis Center) over a defined period, are evaluated using bibliometric analysis methods. This analysis aims to delineate the scope of the existing literature on successful aging by examining parameters such as the numerical distribution of published theses, authorship, keywords, research methodologies, and key themes. Furthermore, it is intended to derive comprehensive insights into the thematic and methodological trends present in the theses, as well as the emerging research domains and theoretical frameworks within this field.

The bibliometric analysis conducted reveals the primary themes around which successful aging research is concentrated, the methodological approaches that are most frequently employed, and the gaps in the current literature. This study is intended to provide guidance for future research in the field of successful aging and to contribute to the academic literature within this area.
