ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study
is to examine postgraduate theses in Turkey that address the concept of
sustainability in businesses, in order to identify trends, thematic focuses,
and methodological approaches in the field. As a result of a search conducted
in the Council of Higher Education Thesis Center (YÖK Thesis Database) using
the keyword “sustainability in businesses,” three theses were identified and
analyzed. The selected studies were compared in terms of their subjects,
objectives, research methods, and findings.
Firstly, the study examining sustainability practices
in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province of İzmir was
analyzed. Secondly, the thesis investigating the perception of sustainability
and nepotism in family businesses with a family constitution was evaluated.
Finally, the study focusing on the integration of enterprise risk management
processes into sustainability practices within the banking sector was reviewed.
This study aims to contribute to the literature by
summarizing the current tendencies in postgraduate research on sustainability
in businesses and by creating awareness for adopting more practical and
interdisciplinary approaches in future studies. In addition, this review is
expected to serve as a reference point for researchers and practitioners who
seek to develop sustainability-oriented strategies within the business context.
