Özet

In light of the aforementioned issues related to the aging building stock, environmental concerns, and the need for a more sustainable approach to urban development, the importance of project quality management in renovation activities takes on a vital dimension. It is inside of this context that the present study aims to develop a conceptual framework that incorporates project quality management and performance-based evaluation criteria in the context of renovation activities. Through a qualitative research approach based on a theory-driven research design, the research undertakes a structured literature review in the broader domains of project management, project quality management inside the context of architecture, and performance-based evaluation in the context of renovation and building performance evaluation. Within this context, the research aims to redefine the concept of quality in renovation activities through a multidimensional approach that incorporates performance-based evaluation criteria such as structural performance, environmental performance, spatial performance, and user performance inside the context of the renovated building. Through this approach, the research aims to develop a conceptual framework that delineates a systematic link between performance-based evaluation criteria relevant to the critical phases of the renovation project. The research aims to provide a holistic decision support tool that can help stakeholders evaluate the quality of renovation works not only in the context of the construction phase but also in the broader context of the building’s life cycle. Through a qualitative research approach that bridges the gap between project quality management and performance-based renovation strategies, the research aims to make a meaningful contribution to the broader field of architectural project management and establish a foundation for future research that aims to optimize renovation project performance through performance-based evaluation parameters.
