ABSTRACT This chapter explores the critical role of emotional intelligence (EI) in shaping organisational behaviour (OB), highlighting its influence on leadership, teamwork, decision-making, and organisational culture. Drawing on both the ability and mixed models of EI, the chapter discusses how emotionally intelligent individuals contribute to enhanced communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement. Empirical studies underscore EI's positive impact on job performance, psychological safety, and organisational effectiveness. The chapter also addresses key challenges in EI application, including definitional ambiguities and measurement limitations. Practical interventions such as training and coaching are proposed to foster EI development in the workplace. Ultimately, emotional intelligence emerges as a vital competency for cultivating adaptive, collaborative, and highperforming organisational environments.
