itmektedir
The tourism sector not only supports economic development but also plays a significant role in creating employment, combating poverty, and reducing developmental disparities between different regions. By providing job opportunities for local people, tourism improves living standards and contributes to reducing regional inequalities (Sharma & Tham, 2023, p. 15). Additionally, tourism plays a crucial role in the preservation of cultural and natural values. Today, the effects of increased urbanization and city life elevate people’s levels of stress and anxiety. These developments are pushing people toward quieter regions (Suna, 2020, p. 19). The fact that alternative tourism emphasizes people rather than nature has increased the importance of the regenerative development approach in recent years. Regenerative tourism has the potential to positively impact the relationship between people and nature within a region through tourism. Alongside these developments, environment-friendly options such as ecotourism, agrotourism, nature, and cultural tourism have increasingly gained preference (Woś, 2014, p. 66). Among these primary motivations, apitourism, which is intertwined with health, culture, ecology, and agricultural tourism, has also begun to see increased demand (Dönmez, 2023, p. 687). Particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, people tended to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and the stay-at-home practices during the pandemic led to an increased demand for nature and natural products. Situated as a bridge between Europe and Asia, Turkey stands out from other countries with its geographical features, climate, and plant diversity. Turkey is home to a rich variety of plants, with a significant proportion exhibiting endemic characteristics. Approximately 34% of the 12,000 plant species found in Turkey are endemic (Uyanık et al., 2012, p. 126). Moreover, Turkey ranks third globally in the number of beehives, with 9.2 million, and is the second largest producer of honey after China, with 114,886 tons (Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 2024). Of the 27 bee breeds found worldwide, five are present in Turkey (Kayaboynu, 2022). These features represent a substantial potential. By effectively leveraging these advantages, Turkey has the opportunity to make significant contributions in terms of product development, employment, and economic growth (Aşkan, 2023, p. 2).
