Özet

Background: This study aimed to examine the mediating role of recreational flow experience in the relationship between individuals’ digital leisure orientation and leisure satisfaction during the post-earthquake adaptation process. Methods: This correlational study included a total of 425 individuals (206 women and 219 men) residing in Hatay Province who were affected by the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. Research data were collected using the Digital Leisure Time Tendency Scale, the Recreational Flow Experience Scale, and the Leisure Satisfaction Scale. Confirmatory factor analysis was initially conducted to validate the measurement model. Within the scope of the research hypotheses, correlation analysis and bootstrap-based mediation analysis were performed. The analyses were conducted using SPSS 25 and Hayes’ PROCESS Macro (Model 4). Results: The findings indicated significant positive relationships among digital leisure orientation, recreational flow experience, and leisure satisfaction. According to the bootstrap-based regression analysis, digital leisure orientation was positively associated with recreational flow experience (b = 1.414, p < .001). Recreational flow experience was also positively associated with leisure satisfaction (b = .493, p < .001). In addition, the direct effect of digital leisure orientation on leisure satisfaction was significant (b = .130, p < .01), while the indirect effect through recreational flow experience was also statistically significant (b = .697, 95% CI [.615, .782]). Conclusions: The findings demonstrated that, during the post-earthquake adaptation process, digital leisure orientation was positively associated with leisure satisfaction and that this association included a statistically significant indirect component through recreational flow experience. These findings suggest that digital leisure behaviors and recreational flow experience may be meaningfully associated with leisure satisfaction.
