Biyografi

I'm an urban planner, a Ph.D. candidate in Urban Planning at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (Istanbul, Turkey). Also, I've been working as a research assistant at Istanbul Gelisim University, Fine Arts Faculty, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department since 2015. I hold a BSc in City and Regional Planning (2015) and an MSc in Urban Transformation and Planning (2018) from Yıldız Technical University (Istanbul, Turkey). My master thesis is titled: “Airbnb as A Global Factor that Triggers off Gentrification: The Case of Rasimpasa Neighborhood in Kadikoy, Istanbul.”

Furthermore, I took part as a scholarship student undertaking a three-year project funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) at Yıldız Technical University in 2018 March-2021 May. The project is titled: Drivers and Scenarios for Reconfiguration Historic City Centers: The Case of Beyoglu, Istanbul (Project Number: 117K317). This research project aims to analyze the multi-layered structure of the transformation of Beyoğlu, one of Istanbul's most important historical city centers, and to reveal concerns and predictions for the future.

Moreover, I carried out a research project on the regulation of short-term rentals in Dublin and Istanbul under the supervision of Dr. Valesca Lima at Dublin City University, School of Law and Government (2214/A International Research Fellowship for Ph.D. Students funded by TUBITAK) in January-July 2023.

My research interests center on capitalist urbanism, neoliberal urban policies, digitalization, gentrification, touristification, housing issues, platform capitalism, short-term holiday rentals (such as Airbnb), and their impact on the financialization of housing.
